Used Taylor Made Irons
I was looking for a technology update over my Ping I3 Combo set. My goal was to find something more forgiving, but still maintain the distance I got from my Pings. I'm not a long hitter (5 iron = 165 yds), but I thought the distances were good enough for a player at my level. I tried a number of sets - the new Pings, Callaway X-16/X-18, and various Clevelands. Then I tried a used taylor made irons.
First let me say WOW. I have never hit a set of Used Taylor Made Irons that allow you to launch the ball so easily. They setup nice with a thinner topline than the Callaways with most of the game improvement featues not visible at address. The steel shafts are very light, but the clubs are perfectly balanced and swing very easy.
With that said, the biggest bonus with these irons is the distance. Taylormade went to tour lofts to counter the high launch trajectory and the results are just amazing. I'm always suspicious when people say they gain huge distances with new clubs on this site. But, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I'm hitting these irons almost two club lengths longer than my Pings. High and very, very long.
I custom ordered my set through Vans Pro Shop 1 degree upright and extended an inch with mid size grips. Ted, the mgr at Vans in Ocotillo AZ, is one of the best.
Taylormade delivered the clubs ahead of schedule and with the correct specs. Very nice. And they answered after less than a minute hold time when I originally called the customer service line to ask about custom fitting.
